Firefighters are preparing to begin mopping up hot spots Monday on the fire, which was reported May 25 and is believed to be human-caused.

Meanwhile, firefighters are continuing to battle another fire near Pagosa Springs that has scorched nearly 8 square miles .

That fire is about 30 percent contained, and crews say much of the risk associated with the blaze has been significantly reduced.

The lightning-caused fire started last month and is burning about 200 miles southwest of Denver. No structures have burned.
