The city council is considering a proposal to sell a “hunting license” to drivers who want to look for an overnight parking space at a city lot.

According to the Durango Herald (http://tinyurl.com/8df9k9f ), the council on Wednesday reviewed alternatives to encourage development of apartments above downtown businesses, but the city cannot guarantee a parking space every night.

Opponents say limiting the number of apartments is a better solution.
