Colorado Parks and Wildlife is partnering with Cabelas again this year to offer Colorado anglers a chance to win up to $2 million in cash and more than $225,000 in additional prizes, the agency announced in a news release.
Colorado is one of 19 states participating in this year’s “Wanna Go Fishing for Millions?” event, in which anglers qualify for a chance at winning prize money by catching tagged fish between May 5 and July 8 at select lakes across the country, according to the release.
“We think this is a wonderful way to call attention to the great fishing we enjoy here in Colorado,” said Greg Gerlich, parks and wildlife’s aquatic section manager, in the release. “Fishing is a gateway to a life of outdoor recreation, so we support family-friendly events like this that encourage folks to spend time together on the water.”
Species to be tagged this year include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, striped bass, perch, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout, walleye, crappie, wiper, bluegill and channel catfish, according to the release.
Site selections for this year have not yet been announced. Participants who register early will have a four-day advance notice of participating lakes. Details and registration are available online at http://www.cabelas.com/fishformillions.
