The Bureau of Land Management’s Kremmling field office is hosting a public meeting next week about a proposed fuel reduction project in Grand County.
The meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Aspen Canyon Ranch located 13 miles south of Parshall at 13206 Grand County Road 3.
BLM fire officials, including Fire Management Specialist Kevin Thompson, will be on hand to provide information and gather comments from the public about the proposed Mule Creek hazardous fuel reduction project.
The project is slated to take place on about 1,500 acres of BLM near county roads 3 and 34.
The bulk of the project is expected to focus on timber salvage and sales, according to a Northwest Colorado Fire Management Unit news release, but there will be some prescribed burning as well.
The objective is to remove dead lodgepole pine from the area to prevent a future large-scale wildland fire, the release states.
Members of the public who cannot attend Wednesday’s meeting are encouraged to contact Thompson with comments at 970-724-3033 or k45thomp@blm.gov.
