Colorado Parks and Wildlife is inviting families to come out April 27 for the sixth annual Outdoor Heritage Day.
The festival, held at Riverbend Park in Palisade, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27. It will feature demonstrations from sponsors on a variety of outdoor activities available in Colorado, including hiking, camping, hunting, fishing and watching wildlife, according to a news release.
“We are lucky to live in Colorado where there are many different outdoor activities to enjoy,” district wildlife manager and event organizer Frank McGee said in the release. “Everyone involved in Outdoor Heritage Day has one goal in common: encouraging families to get off the couch, get away from the TV for a while and have fun outside.”
Children will have the opportunity to learn how to fish or shoot a bow or .22 rifle under supervision. The festival also will provide a free lunch and fill the pond at the park with trout.
Participants can bring their own fishing gear or earn a free rod and reel by participating in the short fishing clinic.
