From 424 votes on 188 entries come five winners of the 2021 Colorado Hunter Photo Contest.
Each of the five winners will receive gift cards from Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply, a longtime supporter of Colorado Hunter.
Winners were selected from five categories — Big Game, Fowl, Fishing, Landscape or Portrait — during a voting process throughout May. Winning entries will be published in the 2021 edition of Colorado Hunter magazine, along with a sampling of some of the 183 other photos submitted in the contest. We thank Colorado Hunter readers for their submissions and votes.
Here’s a little info on each of the five category winners:
BIG GAME: Submitted by Taylor Anderson of Steamboat Springs.
Anderson said, “Here’s my godfather Dave Vaughn with his first archery bull. The bull was harvested on Sept. 17, 2020. Dave has put in a lot of time traveling from New York to hunt in Colorado. This was his fifth archery elk season and he finally got his first shot off. Great day in the mountains.”
FOWL: Billy Austin of New Castle, Colorado, submitted “Feeding the pond ducks.”
FISHING: Jeremy Sanderson of Mesa submitted a photo of 6-year-old Kenzie and “her Master Angler Brookie from the Grand Mesa through the ice.”
LANDSCAPE: Janae Champlin of Winter Park submitted “Stop and Small the Wildflowers” while on a hike near Berthoud Pass.
PORTRAIT: Richard S. Johnston of Steamboat Springs submitted “Midday break in the Zirkels,” which he took while taking a break and enjoying the view.
Congratulations to the winners!
